Research Topic

Simulation of drying and extraction of fungal spores in a rotating drum with OpenFoam software.

A increase in the use of biological agents for agricultural pest control, particularly entomopathogenic fungal spores, is constrained by the low industrial production capacity of these agents. Generally, the production processes for these agents are semi-artisanal and require technical improvement.

The current study will enable the optimization of the efficient extraction process developed in Brazil through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, allowing for an increase in the productivity of the Metarhizium anisopliae spore production process.
